Xiaomi has officially unveiled its latest flagship smartphone series, which includes two models: the Xiaomi 15 and the Xiaomi 15 Pro. These devices are distinguished as the first smartphones globally to utilize the Snapdragon 8 Elite chip.

The Xiaomi 15 is priced starting at 4,499 Chinese yuan (approximately Rs 53,000), positioning it as one of the more affordable options featuring the Snapdragon 8 Elite chip this year. In contrast, the more advanced Xiaomi 15 Pro is available at a price of 5,299 Chinese yuan (approximately Rs 62,420). Lei Jun, the founder and CEO of Xiaomi, has indicated plans for a global rollout of the Xiaomi 15 series, anticipated to occur by late 2024 or early 2025.

The Xiaomi 15 offers a selection of 20 different back panel options and two frame choices, allowing for a total of 40 customizable variations. Additionally, a Diamond Edition is available, featuring three extra color variants. The Xiaomi 15 Pro is offered in four colors: Bright Silver, Rock Gray, White, and Spruce Green.

Both the base models of the Xiaomi 15 and 15 Pro come equipped with 12 GB of RAM and 256 GB of internal storage, with the option to upgrade to 16 GB of RAM and 1 TB of storage.

Similar to its predecessor, the Xiaomi 15 is slightly smaller, featuring a 6.36-inch OLED display with a 1.5K resolution and an ultrasonic fingerprint sensor. The device boasts a flat screen with minimal bezels measuring 1.38 mm. Despite its compact design, it houses a robust 5,500 mAh battery, supporting 90W fast wired and 50W fast wireless charging.

Notable features of the Xiaomi 15 include a 50 MP triple camera system with Leica optics and a 32 MP front-facing camera. It is also the first smartphone to come pre-installed with HyperOS 2.0, based on Android 15.

The Xiaomi 15 Pro shares a similar aesthetic with the base model but is slightly larger, featuring a 6.73-inch 2K resolution micro quad-curved display. This variant is equipped with a more substantial 6,100 mAh battery, while maintaining the same 90W wired and 50W wireless charging capabilities.

The Xiaomi 15 Pro also includes a 50 MP triple camera setup, with an enhanced telephoto lens compared to the base model.
