New leaks suggest that Apple’s upcoming iPhone 18 Pro and iPhone 18 Pro Max will feature a redesigned front display with under-display Face ID technology and a relocated front-facing camera, potentially ushering in a cleaner, more uninterrupted screen experience. These changes would represent one of the biggest design shifts in recent iPhone history.

Cleaner Screen With Under-Display Face ID

According to industry reports from The Information, Apple is planning to move most of the Face ID hardware beneath the display panel, eliminating the need for the familiar pill-shaped Dynamic Island cutout that has appeared on Pro models since the iPhone 14 Pro. In place of the Dynamic Island, the front camera is expected to shift to a small hole-punch in the top-left corner of the screen.

This design change could give the iPhone 18 Pro a more seamless front surface, with fewer visual distractions and more usable screen area — a long-awaited update that brings Apple closer to an edge-to-edge display aesthetic.

What This Means for the iPhone 18 Series

Industry sources suggest that Apple’s latest design efforts won’t just be cosmetic:

Under-display Face ID could enable a more unified screen experience with less interruption from notches or cutouts.

The punch-hole camera placement at the top left may provide a subtle shift from Apple’s traditional centered front camera layout.

Despite these changes, the overall design language is still expected to be an evolution rather than a complete overhaul compared with the iPhone 17 Pro series.

Leaked reports also hint that these models will continue Apple’s tradition of introducing flagship hardware improvements, including a powerful A20 Pro chipset built on an advanced manufacturing process, enhanced camera systems, and potential support for variable aperture on the main rear-facing camera.

Expected Launch Timeline

Apple typically unveils its flagship iPhone models at an annual September event, and early indicators suggest the iPhone 18 Pro lineup will follow this pattern with a September 2026 launch. The series may also arrive alongside Apple’s first foldable iPhone, marking a major phase of hardware innovation for the company.
